Faculty researchers from the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) recently partnered with the DA-Livestock Biotechnology Center (DA-LBC) and the DA-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) for a Complementation Workshop.
This key event, part of the Collaborative Research for Development Project, was held on May 14-15, 2025, at the DA-PCC National Headquarters and Gene Pool in the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
The two-day workshop aimed to equip participants with the skills to create effective and timely research proposals. A key goal was to help researchers secure funding support from the DA-Biotech Program Office (DA-BPO) and other agencies.
On the first day, Dr. Marvin A. Villanueva, Center Chief of the DA-LBC, and his team provided a comprehensive overview of the R&D initiatives at DA-PCC. They highlighted the agency’s key research priorities, particularly in livestock biotechnology, and introduced proposal templates to help participants craft strong, relevant research proposals.
The following day, ASCOT faculty researchers toured the National Livestock Cryobank, the DNA Sequencing Facility, and the PCC Gene Pool. This hands-on experience provided valuable context for the research proposals being developed.
The workshop concluded successfully with the ASCOT faculty researchers developing a new research proposal. This proposal is expected to be refined for potential funding support, marking a significant step forward in the collaborative research between these key institutions.
