BIOTECH RESEARCH FOR DEVELOPMENT
Technology Development and Deployment
- Biosecurity and Border Surveillance
- Development of portable molecular kits (LAMP, qPCR, biosensors) for pest and pathogen detection in crops, fisheries, and livestockv (see list of priority pests/diseases)
- Development Of biosensor based screening assays for veterinary drug (D2) residues in livestock and animal-derived foods to support market surveillance, trade compliance, and consumer protection
- Food and Feed Safety
- Development of tools to check residues, adulteration, or food quality in the market
- Technology Testing and Deployment
- Field and adaptability trials for products of biotechnology, for agriculture use, for performance and efficacy evaluation
BIOTECH RESEARCH FOR DEVELOPMENT
Regulatory Support and Science-Based Tools
- Validation Of testing methods for:
- Pests and pathogens at point of entry (see list of regulated pests)
- Adulteration, mislabeling, and
fraudulent claims on food, feed, and agricultural commodities - Contaminants, toxins, or biological agents affecting trade and safety
- Optimization of detection methods and emerging biosensor platforms for the rapid screening of veterinary drug
residues and contaminants in livestock, dairy, poultry, and aquaculture products - Generating compliance data for biosafet or product registration
• Surveillance and monitoring studies on
the prevalence of emerging diseases in
crops, livestock, and fisheries in support
for policy
